Great maneuvers in the realm of Vermentino and one of the most interesting companies, La Tenuta Masone Mannu, in Su Canale, a small fraction of Monti, in the heart of Gallura, owned by an investment fund that refers to a financier of the Azerbaijan. The day before yesterday the purchase by Giordano Emendatori and Tenuta Mara, a large Romagna company specializing in the production of biodynamic Sangiovese wine, was concluded.
Masone Mannu is a farm that already from the ancient Logudorese name “great property” expresses all the potential and wealth of its 60 hectares. Of these, 17 hectares are planted with vines, of which 13 are vermentino and the rest are cannonau, carignano and bovale Sardo.
They are grapes that produce high quality wines, for example the well-known Vermentino di Gallura docg Petrizza, but also the 2016 Costarenas awarded 3 glasses by Gambero Rosso magazine.
After having founded Mec3 in 1984, a leading company in the production of ingredients for gelato and pastry, in 2014 Giordano Emendatori decided to devote himself completely to his second passion, wine, and made it a new successful entrepreneurial story. Together with his daughter Elena, today at the helm of the Estate situated on the hills of Rimini, where a single wine of the highest quality, the MaraMia sangiovese (already awarded by international guides and competitions) is cultivated with a biodynamic method, the Emendatori family widens its horizons from the Adriatic to the Tyrrhenian Sea, in Sardinia, where Emendatori has for some years owned a house in which he spends most of the summer. The objective of the new property is to transform Masone Mannu first into an organic and then biodynamic farm, an agronomic practice that bans the use of any fertilizer and chemical substance in the vineyard and in winemaking. Each plant is treated individually and grows in an environment rich in biodiversity. The hand-picked grapes are selected with very strict criteria. Finally, in vats the wine ferments without temperature control and without added yeasts. Tenuta Mara reports, “the affinities that already characterize the two wine-making realities are going to grow: a high quality viticulture able to express, through its products and the possibility of interesting food and wine and tourist itineraries, the true soul of the respective territories “
